About The Lands

At the ripe age of 24, a childhood friend offered to purchase some land with him, and the rest is history.

These lands have held me during my darkest days, with little to no belief in my abilities, and witnessed me grow into the man I am today. The lands have been my sanctuary, a place to decompress, let off steam, and more recently a vessel to bring beings together to nurture all life through sacred fires and prayers in the teepee.

I purchased the lands at the age of 24 with a childhood friend of mine who saw a sign on a tree, 'property for sale'. We managed to come up with the down payment and had a vendor take back the mortgage to finance the rest. The lands acted as a camp for the first decade, and things slowly began to develop. We built our first bunkie, which housed us for many years, at which point I bought my partner out. The log cabin came next, and the vision for an intentional community began to materialize.

These lands are home to many; guests, animals, insects, rocks, fire, and many spirits. Every piece of lumber, all building material, soil, and much more has been brought by canoe, boat or barge to be carried by hand up the hill to our living community.

I cannot express the amount of gratitude I have for the many hands that have made this dream a reality. I thank the Creator for providing me the opportunity to be a land steward and for the challenges of fetching water at the lake by hand, cutting holes in the ice for water in the winter, cooking on open fires, and chopping wood all year to heat my home has humbled me greatly and supported me in transitioning into a lifestyle that is symbiotic with mother nature.

Lay of the Lands

Rawa Land is an intimate space for gatherings of upwards of 13 people. The sleeping arrangement on the lands consists of 3 tiny homes, the main cabin, and multiple tenting locations. We live in close proximity to our neighbors and respectfully integrate their needs within our gatherings.

The teepee is the central point of the lands, our sacred temple where we host sacred fire ceremonies for prayers, songs, and offerings to nurture our ancestors, the elementals and all of creation. It is our space to gather for intimate talk circles and healing ceremonies.
